Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare, load and operate automated washing equipment.This unit applies to individuals who work alongside a supervisor, in most situations, and exercise limited autonomy.All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, in accordance with State/Territory work health and safety apply to the workplace.No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare washing equipment for operation
  • Read or listen to work instructions from supervisor and ask for clarification where necessary
  • Identify work health and safety hazards and tell supervisor
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment according to workplace procedures
  • Identify and load items to be washed according to job specifications
  • Confirm equipment and service are ready for use
  • Select wash cycle settings to meet safety and wash requirements
       
Element: Operate and monitor the equipment
  • Conduct pre-start checks according to workplace procedures
  • Operate equipment and monitor to identify variation in operating conditions
  • Identify variation in equipment operation and report maintenance requirements
  • Shut equipment down safely according to workplace procedures
  • Unload washed items, and position in required location
  • Keep work area clean and tidy according to work health and food safety procedures
  • Clean equipment and complete records, as required by workplace procedures

Assessment Tasks
